NBA Jersey Talk / NBA jerseys, real or fake?
« Last post by elfridpayton4 on August 18, 2017, 12:06:04 PM »
Hey,

I want to buy some signed NBA jerseys and I've come across some on eBay but finding out if the jerseys are authentic/official seems like a bit of a minefield! Would someone be able to cast their eye over these photos and see what you think?

Thanks in advance :)

General Jersey Talk / Getting creases out of jersey sleeves w/screen printing?
« Last post by Chazberg on July 31, 2017, 01:03:13 PM »
I recently purchased a M&N Bears jersey with vinyl transfer numbers and striping. The sleeves have very prominent creases, but I'm not sure if I'm able to iron them and I'm very scared to try (even with a towel in between) for fear of melting/ruining the vinyl graphics. Does anyone else have experience/success stories for getting creases out of a jersey with this type of graphics?

NFL Jersey Talk / Question on Dallas Cowboys Southland jerseys
« Last post by ren7653 on July 26, 2017, 06:31:46 PM »
Found a Randy White Dallas Cowboys jersey when I was cleaning out some old stuff. Looking at it, I noticed it was made by Southland and had a Order # on it. Did Southland make jerseys for anyone else? If so, how long? I have a bunch of older Cowboys stuff from my dad and uncle but this is the only one I've come across manufactured by Southland.

Any help would be appreciated :)

NBA Jersey Talk / Double tag "pro cut" Sand Knit Jerseys?
« Last post by sixers34 on July 13, 2017, 04:31:38 PM »
Hey All, I'm new to this site and am thrilled to have learned of its existence!  I have been a pro jersey fanatic (particularly Vintage NBA) for many years.  Anyway, on to my question....

I have been searching many years for an authentic Charles Barkley 76ers home jersey (but away would suffice), particularly the style they wore from the 86-87 through 90-91 season.  The jersey he wore his first two years in the league, although almost identical, was slightly different.  The "Sixers" letters were a tiny bit smaller and did not have as much of an arch as the jersey that came after the 85-86 season.  Wilson was the manufacturer for those first two years, then of course it went to Sand Knit until the 90-91 season when Champion took over.

Well, I finally found the Barkley Sixers Home Sand Knit jersey from the 88-89 season, with NOB and everything.  Based on what I have seen in my research and geeking around on the internet, there were 3 flavors of Sand knit jerseys that I am aware of, particularly for Barkley/Sixers jerseys of that era:

1) the "Replica" jersey, which offered screened on letters and numbers, no NOB, and was a cheaper, stretchy nylon material.  Sizes are spelled out (small, medium, etc).  Note, some of the other teams in that era had used screened on letters and numbers even for their game jerseys (i.e., Bulls and Pistons), so all 3 versions of the jerseys were screened on anyway.  But not the case for the Sixers, the authentics had sewn twill lettering.
2) The "authentic" jersey, which featured twill, sewn on letters and numbers, had the better, thicker perforated material, and the double tag, but still no NOB.  sizes are in numbers (46, 48, 50, etc)
3) Pro Cut GAME WORN Jersey - The big Kahuna, same quality as the authentic version previously listed, but with the 1/2 LB tag and the year tag, with the NOB included.  Either produced to be worn at a game, or was worn for a game.

The jersey I found fits into a 4th category that I have never seen before.  It is closest to number 3, since it has NOB and the LB/year tags, BUT it is not the same size that Barkley wore, not even close, so its definitely not game worn.  Barkley always wore a 50, this jersey is a 42.  My question is, did Sand Knit have a production line of their NBA jerseys, similar to how Champion did back in the 90s, where the "authentic" jerseys were the same in quality as the game worn jerseys, the only difference is that they offered other sizes different to that of what the pros wore, and possibly even tailored as a pro cut?  Or could it be something else where they had a special line of the authentic jerseys for charity, auction, or something like that?  The jersey was listed as a "pro cut" jersey, although i have a hard time believing that since its not his size.  How can I actually tell if it is a "pro cut" jersey?

Any light that can be shed on this alleged 4th category of Sand Knit NBA Jerseys from the late 80s would be much appreciated!

MLB Jersey Talk / Authenticating NY Yankees jersey

Can anyone help with aunthenticating this jersey and also whose it may have been? If these pictures aren't good please let me know how to get better. I'm a "baseball mom" and lover of the sport so by no means a jersey pro. Thanks so much for any help.
